Obituary

Abhimon Tong Orachantara

On Sunday, January 24th, 2021 at 5:54PM Abhimon Tong Orachantara passed away at the age of fifty-two at NY Presbyterian Hospital in NYC due to a Massive Pontine Stroke. He was a loving husband to his wife, Jaruphan (Amp). A beloved son to his mother, Somsri Orachantara, and his father, Kamol Orachantara. He was a devoted older brother to Gun Orachantara.

He was born in Bangkok, Thailand on Sunday, July 7th, 1968 at 7:40AM at Vajira Hospital. He moved around the world a lot because of his father’s work for the Thai Foreign Affairs. He was was fortunate to experience different cultures from an early age through both his travels, and education. He attended R.I.S., Ruamrudee Internation School, in Bangkok, Thailand. Later, he made his big move to live in New York with his mother and attend high school at Oneida Boarding School in Kentucky before going on to attend SUNY New Paltz- majoring in Graphic Design.

Tong had a lot of friends from all around the world who will remember his charismatic, funny and happy nature. He will be remembered by lifelong friends from his younger years in Thailand as well as those he met later in life from around the globe as a fun loving, compassionate spirit, and he will be missed.

Tong married Jaruphan Amp Seelasorn, on August 20th, 1999. They shared a close loving relationship full of friendships and considered their friend’s children to be their own.

Tong’s passion was not based in material things but more so into the essence of life. He loved to observe things. To go to museums and walk around with his wife for hours. Tong also loved to walk in the nature and observe all of the beauty around him.

Through his career as a Brand Associate at Banana Republic, he used his skill and experience with graphic design and drew inspiration through his passion for the natural outdoors and artistic inspiration such as that found in museums to create his work. Tong was always a happy, fun, and easy person to be around. He was considered to many of his friends and family to be the favorite uncle to all his nieces and nephews. My condolences to the family. Tong was my friend at work. He taught me a lot, listened well, and joked with me. I appreciated his wisdom, kindness, and, yes, sarcasm

Hi Tong! That was always my greeting to him. I don’t want to start reminiscing too much, then the tears will flow. He always came near the end of our thanksgiving parties, whether big or small. Once, at the restaurant, though, he came pretty early and left last! Hahaha!!! We hugged tightly saying our goodbyes. I’ll always remember that. ❤️❤️❤️ Goodbye my friend. I miss you!!!
