Obituary for Adelia L. Robalo

Adelia Robalo, a longtime resident of Yonkers entered into eternal life on May 18, 2020 at the age of 81. She was the wife of the late João (John) Robalo and together they had four children.

She was born on August 1, 1938 in Porto Novo, Sao Antão, Cape Verde to the late Pedro Santo and Maria Melicio Leite. She is survived by her loving siblings: Alice Rodrigues, Alfred Leite, Alzira Rocheteau and Rogerio Barboza.
She immigrated to Yonkers in 1975 and resided there for over 45 years. She was affectionately known as “Tita”, a wonderful mother, grandmother, and a vibrant member of the community. She was the co-founder and President of the Capeverdean community in Yonkers, NY. The Robalo’s Deli and grocery was a staple in the local community for over four decades.

She was a businesswoman with many talents and a generous heart. Her generosity was often demonstrated through her passion for baking and cooking Capeverdean or Portuguese cuisine. Over the years, she donated by catering numerous community events and family functions. With her welcoming spirit and loving heart, she strived to make everyone feel at home and always had a warm plate of food ready for all visitors.

Tita leaves behind a legacy of four children: Maria Auxiliadora, Emanuel, Maria Helena, Moises, their spouses, 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Tita is deeply missed by all of her loved ones and friends. The family appreciates the love and support shown to them during this difficult time.
