Obituary for Agnes L. Nowak
Agnes L. Nowak (nee McGill) died peacefully at Hospice in Watertown N.Y. on 19 January 2023. She resided for the last 3 1/2 years with her son, Thomas, and Daughter-in-law, Kim, in Theresa N.Y.
Agnes was born in Yonkers N.Y. on 23 July 1932 and maintained residence in Yonkers until the passing of her husband of 64 years, Vincent L. Nowak. She graduated from Yonkers High School in 1950 and worked for CIT until she married. She and Vincent married on 24 April 1954.
Her primary focus was her family but held various jobs: Westchester County Social Services, A&P and Precision Valve.
Agnes was a longtime member of the St. Mary’s Drama Club and enjoyed singing and dancing. She danced in local USO shows during the Second World War.
Agnes is survived by her three children: Thomas Nowak, Lynn Laviano and Kathleen Schwartz; Six grandchildren: David Nowak, Grace Nowak, Christopher Laviano, Julia Csenar, Marissa Schwartz and Alan Schwartz; two greatgrandchildren: Maximus Nowak and Vincent Cox; two nephews: John McGovern and Thomas McGovern.
Visiting hours will take place at the Flynn Memorial Home on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saint Mary’s Church on Thursday, January 26, 2023 at 10:00 am.
Burial will follow at Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Yonkers, NY.
