Obituary for Amelia Silvestro
Amelia Silvestro was born in 1927 in Volturara Irpina, Italy to Costantina and Luigi Discepola. After arriving in America at the age of 9, she became a long time resident of the Bronx in New York. Later in life, she and her husband moved to Yonkers.
On Saturday, June 20, 2020, at the age of 92, after a long struggle, Amelia‘s earthly journey ended. She passed away in St. James in Long Island. She was a strong and courageous women.
Amelia, beloved wife of the late John Silvestro. Loving mother of Jenny (Joseph) Tranfaglia, Tina, and predeceased by John (Ellen). Predeceased by her brother, Mario Discepola, survived by her dear sister-in- law, Angela, and her nieces and nephews. Cherished grandmother of Amanda Rose Tranfaglia, born prematurely and passed away after 33 days, Nicholas (Sarah) Tranfaglia, Amelia Ellen (Raymond) Kummer and John Silvestro.
