Obituary for Ekaterina "Katya" Gerasimov

Ekaterina (Kathryn, Katya) Gerasimov, on June 26, 2020, was born to her parents Mendel Lifshitz and Alexandra Yuryeva on December 8, 1939 in Vinnitsa, Ukraine.

She graduated from the Kharkov City Music College, and later in 1968 earned her Master’s Degree in piano performance from the Rimsky-Korsakov State Conservatory in St. Petersburg, Russia. During next 22 years she worked as Piano Professor in the St. Petersburg Music Teaching College.

In 1990 her family immigrated into USA, and in 1993 she was granted citizenship of the United States. For the next 30 years she resided with her family in the New York City, and worked during 20 years in the St. Dennis’ Roman Catholic church in Yonkers as the Organist and Director of Music.

Besides being a woman of pulchritude, Kathryn was gifted with outstanding memory and astonishing quick-wittedness. She was able to formulate the most complicated ideas in their final shape spontaneously. Comprehensive knowledge of music, the top level of professional skills, and impeccable taste earned her admiration and respect of everybody who happened to work with her.

She was adamant in adherence to her principles, always honest and sincere, and never hesitated to speak her mind without reservation.
Formidable personality, Kathryn affected everybody around her.
She dominated conversations and discussions.
She was a saintlike mother, angelic wife, and the most reliable friend.
She was faithful to God’s Commandments and precepts.

Farewell, Katya. May God gracefully take your beautiful soul.
