Obituary for Catherine M. Urtz
Catherine M. Urtz passed away after a brief illness on April 17, 2020.
Cathy was born on April 28,1942 to Walter F. Urtz and Helen H. Urtz in Yonkers, NY, where she resided for most of her life.
Education and her Catholic faith were of great importance to Cathy. She attended high school at the Academy of Mount St. Ursula in the Bronx, where she later enjoyed working as Treasurer in the finance office for over 20 years. She was also a proud member of the first graduating class of Mercy College where she earned her degree in Mathematics. In her spare time,
Cathy enjoyed puzzles, bowling, and growing up was a fan of National League baseball and enjoyed going to Mets games at Shea Stadium. She loved visiting all her nephews and nieces and spending time doing activities with them.
Cathy is survived by her brother Wally Urtz, her sister Alice Anderson, her nephews Thomas, Walter, and Anthony, her nieces Michele and Sharon, her great-nephews Thomas, Ryan, Ivan, and Nico, her great-nieces Kaitlin and Madalyn, her great-great-nephew John, and her dear friend from her time at Mercy College, Bernadette Treat DeAngelis.
