Obituary for Dorothy Bucchieri

On the evening of Saturday, May 20, 2023, Dorothy Bucchieri passed peacefully into eternal rest at Calvary Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 21, 1929 the daughter of the late John Hoblock and Elizabeth (Saskiewicz) Hoblock. A lifelong resident of Yonkers, Dorothy was a loving wife to her beloved late husband, Edward J. Bucchieri (wed 1958), to whom she was married for 55 years before his passing in 2013. Dorothy was 93 years old.

She worked over the years at Crest Dry Cleaners, the Yonkers Police Department, White Swan Uniform Company, and Playland Amusement Park prior to her retirement in the late 1990s. She was a dedicated communicant of St. Denis Church before its closing in 2015. Dotty continued her journey as a devout catholic, loving our Lord and holding her faith wholeheartedly for her entire life, in most recent years watching masses on television regularly and reciting her prayers and rosary daily.

Dorothy is survived by her dear sisters, Rose (Judy) Colonair of Watertown, CT and Frances Brill of Yonkers, NY, as well as her sister-in-law, Carmela (Bucchieri) Silvestri, also of Yonkers, NY; several nephews and nieces, great and great-great nephews and nieces whom she cherished. She will be greatly missed by her entire family.

Besides her loving husband and her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by brothers William, Edward, Robert, John and Raymond Hoblock; and sisters Helen Hoblock, Anna Lavelle and Margaret Kielkucki.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Flynn Memorial Home, 1652 Central Park Avenue, Yonkers, NY 10710. Visitation will be Wednesday morning, May 24 from 10:00 until 11:30 AM. Catholic Mass will follow immediately at 12:00 PM at St. Eugene Roman Catholic Church, 707 Tuckahoe Road, Yonkers, NY. Interment will follow services at Mount Hope Cemetery, 50 Jackson Avenue at Saw Mill River Road, Hastings-on-Hudson, NY.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the family members and very dear friends of Aunt Dotty that tirelessly cared for her, visited her bedside and telephoned her regularly to cheer her spirits and to those who kept her close in prayer. We are forever grateful for your part in her life these past couple of difficult years. May God’s blessings be upon you always.
