Obituary for Eleanor H. Whitney
Eleanor Whitney, formerly of the Bronx, New York, died peacefully with family at the age of 85 on July 9, 2022.
She was an active member of the PTA at Our Lady of Refuge and a lifelong member of the Newman Prayer Group. She loved traveling, art, the opera, the New York Yankees, and any opportunity to be with friends and family.
She is survived by her sons David (Jessica Zink), John (Kerry) and grandchildren Maura, Jack, and Darcy. Eleanor is also survived by her twin sister Edith Meissner and brother Gerhardt (Angel) Meissner.
She was preceded in death by her parents Yolanda Meissner neé Flachbarth and Bruno Meissner, and her husband, the love of her life, John Leo Whitney. She will be remembered for her smile, kindness, and love by all.
Visitation for Eleanor Whitney will be held on Friday July 15, 4-8PM at Flynn Memorial Home In Yonkers, NY.
Funeral mass will be Saturday July 16, 10AM at St Eugene’s Parish Yonkers, NY.
Procession to Burial to follow to Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorn, NY
