Obituary for Ellen M. Durniak
Ellen M. Durniak of Scarsdale, NY, passed away on the morning of March 21, 2022 while in her home.
She was 76 years of age.
Ellen was born on November 1, 1945, in the Bronx, NY to Frank and Catherine Kaltenback. She was a 1963 graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers, NY.
Ellen worked as a teacher’s assistant for many years in Scarsdale. She loved to travel, first living in London for approximately 2 years, and later spending winters with her husband and friends in Fort Myers, FL. While working at a pub in London she experienced the Beatles first hand and excitedly wrote her friend back home that they soon would be in America. Ellen was a generous, caring mother and friend who would readily put other’s needs ahead of her own.
Ellen was a devoted wife to her late husband Dennis Durniak. She is survived by her daughter and son in law, Denise and Joseph Seminara, and her son Brian Durniak, Chloe Foglia, her sister Mary Flower and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She took great pride and joy from spending time with her three granddaughters, Olivia Rose and Kendall Delin Seminara, and Twyla Pearl Durniak, to whom she was lovingly referred to, by all, as Nanny.
A private memorial service and interment will be planned for the spring to honor and celebrate Ellen.
