Obituary for Frances Madonia
Frances LaSpisa Madonia, 95, of Yonkers, NY entered Heaven’s Gate on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020. Born on December 13, 1924 in the Bronx, NY to her late parents Maria and Tomasso LaSpisa. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Madonia with whom she married on February 23, 1947 at St. Roch’s church in the Bronx, NY.
Frances’ life was driven by her deep faith and unending love for life. She was devoted to her church, Our Lady of Fatima in Scarsdale, NY, and spent many years volunteering there, counting the collection every Monday and she was the one who started the library at the school when her children were students there.
Frances was a friend to all who met her. She enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her friends. She was most proud of being a mother and excelled at it. Besides her parents and husband, Frances was predeceased by her brothers John & Silvio LaSpisa, son Dennis and daughter Debra. She is survived by daughters Doreen (Miguel), Maria (John), Janet, her “sister” and best friend Antoinette Burns and sister-in-law Pat LaSpisa.
She is being laid to rest at Ferncliff Cemetery, Hartsdale, NY. Any messages and memories to Frances and her family can be left on www.flynnmemorialhome.com. A mass and memorial event will be held at a later date to celebrate Frances’ life well lived!
