Obituary for Hector Ivan Gonzalez
Hector Gonzalez passed from this life on May 13, 2023 at the age of 55. He passed away peacefully with family members by his side at Mt .Sinai Hospital, after a long struggle with complications from diabetes.
He loved his family, working on cars, making people laugh, and sometimes fishing.
Hector Ivan Gonzalez was born on April 30, 1968 in Yonkers, NY, the only son of Hector Gonzalez and Lydia Santiago of Villalba, Puerto Rico. He grew up in Yonkers with his older sister Janet and many cousins and attended Yonkers High School.
Hector worked at several auto repair shops in Westchester, and in ~1997 became self-employed. He continued being self-employed until he became disabled in ~2018.
Those fortunate enough to know Hector and those who loved him loved his sense of humor, his generosity with helping friends with their cars was endless.
Mr. Gonzalez dearly loved his family. He is survived by Lydia, his mother; son Hector J. Gonzalez; and sister Janet Gonzalez.
He was predeceased by his father, who passed by the time Hector was twenty-five.
Hector wanted to thank his friends & cousins that kept his spirits high. And, the best of them all, Hector's son Hector: "I asked too much of him, and he gave it willingly."
