Henry Nieves transitioned from this world on Saturday, April 11, 2020. The youngest of five children, he was born in The Bronx, New York where he lived until 1985, then moving to Yonkers where he stayed until his passing.

He had many adventures and many accomplishments, but none made him quite as proud as his family. Together with his wife of 43 years, Carmen (Lally) Nieves, he built a home for many.

He gave advice and encouraged others. He told long stories and stirred big laughs. He smiled brighter than anyone’s problems and hugged harder than anyone’s pain. He was a fixture, always there for whatever his family needed – a ride, a babysitter, a companion, a comic, an anecdote, a confidant, a wise word or a warm ear.

A loving brother, uncle, father, grandfather, husband and friend, he worked diligently to give the best of who he was to all that he knew and loved.

Henry will be remembered by all as a resilient and caring man, who fought to be with his family, until the end.

Henry was always so kind. I remember him as a bright spot in my visits to Dinorah's house in high school. He always had a huge smile, showed genuine interest in conversation and had a great sense of humor. It was always obvious how much he loved and respected Dinorah. A wonderful man.

Hi Henry,

I hope that you can read this from up above. I will never forget how caring and loving you were. I remember that whenever I called Monica and you happened to answer the phone or just happened to be there you would always asked me how was I doing? How was life? How were the kids? We would have little conversations about life or anything else... you always showed you cared and made me feel like part of your family.

Wish I could see you at least one last time so we could hug each other and I could hear you say “Dios te bendiga”; I can almost hear you saying it in my head right now.

I also wanted you to know that I am very thankful. Thankful that I got to know you and your beautiful family, and thankful for my best friend because I do think that you guys have help her bloomed the best of her qualities.

Jade will also miss her grandpa Henry, and I wish Amira could of gotten the chance to know you as well as we all did.

Till memory fades and life departs, you live forever in our hearts.

Love Kediley, Jade and Amira

Henry, I ask God to keep you in His most blessed arms. Thank you for the laughter and the stories of Tiebout Ave, the Bronx, NY where my brother (now deceased), also lived. Please send blessings to your beautiful wife, Lally, and your daughter's Dinorah and Monica, from Heaven. You will be missed. God rest your beautiful soul. With my deepest and sincerest sympathies, Lucy Serra

Anytime I came to visit for an overnight, Henry would always check to see that I had a pillow, that I wasnt too cold or too warm, that I had a night light of some sort ( so I didnt sleep in total darkness). Every now and then I could cook, he was sooo grateful for my fixings. Henry was an always grateful man. And always woke up whistling to any of his fav tune. Loved, cartoons. When he discovered the power of "Alexa", oh God, he drove "her" crazy, changing to any channel real quick. I think he did it for the fun or emitting a command and seeing how far he could push Alexa! Too funny for words! I will always remember the funny man that he was. Will miss you, Henry
