Iris M. Flynn, of Wilmington, NC, formerly of Somers and Yonkers, NY, died after a brief illness on May 21, 2021. She was 84.

Iris was born in Brooklyn, NY to Booth Clayton and Olive Mae (Pique) Ingram. She was raised in Yonkers, NY and graduated from Gorton H.S. Iris married her high school sweetheart, James E. Flynn, at St. Peter’s Church in Yonkers on November 14, 1959. Together they raised their children in Yonkers where they were parishioners of St. Anthony’s Church. In later years they moved to Heritage Hills in Somers, NY and then to Wilmington, NC.

During her career Iris worked as an Executive Assistant for the Gestetner and Loral Corporations in Yonkers and later followed her passion as a floral designer for Flowers by Carol in Dobbs Ferry, NY.

Iris is survived by her husband James E. Flynn (of the Flynn Memorial Home in Yonkers, NY) and her children, James E. Flynn, Jr. (Theresa), of Tarrytown, NY, Elizabeth A. Flynn, of Wilmington, NC, and Timothy J. Flynn (Lisa) of Croton-on-Hudson, NY. She is also survived by her grandchildren Christopher, Stephanie, Valerie, Clayton, Faythe, Jack and great granddaughter Melody; her sisters Jacqueline Morris and Katherine Cryeski, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held at the Flynn Memorial Home in Yonkers on Wednesday, May 26th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony’s Church in Yonkers on Thursday, May 27th at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Somers, NY.
