Obituary

Jeanne LoCascio passed away peacefully at home on Monday, May 25, 2020 surrounded by her loving husband and children. She lived a full 83 years and created many beautiful memories alongside her adoring family and friends.
Jeanne graduated from Hunter College and received a Master’s Degree from Teacher’s College at Columbia University. In September 1958 she began teaching at P.S. 20 in the Bronx, N.Y. where she met the love of her life, Vincent. As she told us, they were both waiting to “punch in” at the time clock and she gave him a big hello and smile. They were engaged 3 months later and married the day after school ended in June 1959. She continued to dedicate her professional career to the education of children as a teacher at P.S. 72 in the Bronx, N.Y., as a Principal at P.S. 182 in the Bronx, N.Y., as an Instructor at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. and as a Mentor Consultant Supervisor guiding new teachers in Port Chester and Ardsley, N.Y. Her passion for providing the best quality education for all students was evident in every facet of her career. The impact she had on students and teachers is immeasurable.
Jeanne loved hosting elaborate dinner parties for family and friends and made it look easy. She enjoyed attending operas at the Metropolitan Opera, Broadway Shows and concerts at Carnegie Hall. She loved playing Words with Friends and Scrabble. Her greatest joy was spending time with her beloved children and grandchildren who will always keep her memory alive.
Jeanne leaves behind a wonderful legacy of love with her adoring husband of over 60 years, her children and grandchildren, and many more dear and loving friends and relatives.
Services will be private for the family. A Celebration of Jeanne’s life will be planned in the future. Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Breadline who serves the needy and the hungry on their breadline at https://give.stfrancisbreadline.org/page/4085/donate/1?transaction.honname=Jeanne%20LoCascio.

I had the honor of working with Ms. LoCascio in PS 182. She was an outstanding administrator, who allowed me to work with some of the toughest students and get the job done. She impacted my life twice — letting me become one of the first teachers to use computers as an additional teaching age and then she insisted that I join a special program that lead me to become a math specialist. May she Rest In Peace and Rise in Glory.
