Obituary for Judith Ann Klein

Judith Ann Klein, née Sicklick of Somers, died Saturday, March 25th, 2023, at age 71. She is survived by her sister Janet, her brothers John and James, her sister-in-law Faith, her niece Kammie, her aunt June, and her childhood friend Roxann. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth.

Judie was born in Jamaica, NY, and grew up in Yonkers, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School. A brilliant, life-long learner, she first attended Lehman College in the Bronx and then Long Island University. Judie then graduated from the NYU School of Dentistry. She later went on to obtain her Juris Doctor and MBA degrees from Pace University, as well as a Master’s in Public Health from Harvard University.

Judie’s work career was as varied as her education. Her first job in high school was working at W.T. Grant, and then afterward she worked for Treasure Chest China, Castro Convertibles, and the State of New York as a disability examiner at the World Trade Center. Judie practiced dentistry for several years at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility for Women, with a mobile dental company providing dental care to residents of retirement facilities and in private practice. After graduating from law school, she mentored new law students and again worked for the State of New York. She was licensed to practice law in multiple states and Washington, D.C.
Judie’s greatest joy was her family, including her dogs and cats. Judie was a caregiver to her mother in her later years and spent many weekends with her mother and sister, enjoying craft shows, fairs, and concerts. Judie was a cancer survivor and always remained upbeat and positive throughout the treatment. Ten years later, she began suffering from lymphedema related to her cancer treatment, which eventually impacted her heart.

Judie believed in kindness and compassion towards all, a belief she learned from her mother. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Friends may call from 4-8 PM, Tuesday, April 4th, at Flynn Memorial Home, 1652 Central Park Ave., Yonkers, NY. A private interment will be held at Ferncliff Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judie’s honor to the National Lymphedema Network (https://lymphnet.org/)
