Obituary for Kathleen Ann Grimes
Kathleen Grimes, 60, passed away on Jun 5, 2021, at her home in Safety Harbor, FL.
Born April 26, 1961, in Bronx, NY, Kathleen grew up in Yonkers, where her quick mind, clever wit and gifts for music, design, drama and art were all evident from an early age.
She attended Our Lady of Victory Academy in Dobbs Ferry, NY, and pursued undergraduate studies at Stonehill College. She received her MBA in Public Accounting from Lubin School of Business, Pace University, where she graduated summa cum laude and received the Hayes Award for Excellence.
Kathleen began her career at Ernst & Young in New York, and held management positions at J. DeBenedetto & Company, William Green & Co, Millbrae Energy and Parsons & Whittemore.
In 2015, she moved to the Tampa Bay area where she established her own CPA consultancy.
Her final day was spent doing the things that she loved -- baking cookies to feed her infamous sweet tooth and gardening in the brilliant, colorful oasis she created at her home in Florida.
Beloved mother, daughter, sister and aunt, she is survived by her daughter, Lillian Knoeppel, her mother, Arlayne Grimes, siblings Suzanne, Patrick (Stephanie) and Kevin (Yvonne)
and an extended and devoted family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss her irrepressible spirit and strength.
A memorial service will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Pelham Manor, NY on Tuesday, June 15th at 11am and there will be a visitation on Monday, June 14th from 4pm - 8pm at Flynn Memorial Home, 1652 Central Park Avenue in Yonkers, NY.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in memory of Kathleen’s father, Patrick H. Grimes, or to the Heart of the Catskills Humane Society, where Kathleen found and adopted her faithful companion, Chubbs.
