Obituary for Kathleen Agnes Surdoval

SURDOVAL, Kathleen Agnes, 96 of Yonkers, NY passed away on April 2 after a long and loving life from complications from Covid-19. She was born in Yonkers on November 29, 1923, which was Thanksgiving Day, to her parents Timothy Riordan and Anna (Moynihan) Riordan. Her family was thankful for her every day of her life.

She graduated from the High School of Commerce in Yonkers and during her career worked for California Texas Oil Company, Borden Milk Company and A.C. Nielsen Company from which she retired from in 1987. She truly enjoyed 33 years of retirement with her family.

In 1954 she married James Surdoval, who predeceased her in 2003 and they had two children Jim and Kathie who survive her. Her daughter was her mother’s loving primary care giver for the last 5 years as she lived with dementia.

In addition to her husband and parents she was predeceased by a brother Col. James T. Riordan (U.S. Army) and four sisters, Mary Agnes Riordan, who passed as a child in the 1918 Spanish Flu Pandemic; Eileen Stack; Joan Reilly and Julia Lewis.

Along with her children she is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been made with Flynn Memorial Home in Yonkers, NY. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
