Obituary for Lucy Smoyver

Lucy (Lucia) Smoyver, 94, of Yonkers, NY, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2023, with her family by her side. Lucy was born on September 1, 1928, in Bronx, NY. She was a daughter of the late Nancy and Rafael Manna who immigrated from Italy and started a successful coat making company called Little Lady Coat where Lucy worked after high school. Lucy was predeceased by her loving Husband, Ezio Smoyver and brothers Mario (Joan) and Ralph. She is the loving mother of Michael (Patricia) and Eugene (Margaret) and loving grandchildren, Diana (Michael) and Gina and great granddaughter, Elena.

Lucy also has step grandchildren Laurie and Theresa and step great grandchildren Douglas, Larry, and Elyssa, Dean, Ariel, Sofie and DJ. Lucy is also a loving aunt to Nancy (Andrew) and great Aunt to Isabel, Marcus, and Margarita. She was a member of a big Italian family with many aunts, uncles, and cousins and loved spending Sundays and holidays with them. Lucy and her cousin Lucille were not only cousins but best of friends.

Lucy had many friends growing up. She excelled in everything she did. She played the piano, loved to read, cook, sew, and quilt later in life with her loving friends on Pembrook Dr, with the late May Vlad and the late Ruth McKee. She married the love of her life, Ezio when he came home from service in WWII, where he was also a POW during the Battle of the Bulge. She met him at her mother’s friend’s house in Brooklyn. Lucy did not want to go that day, but she was glad she did. Ezio was a strapping, dark hair, and blue-eyed handsome man that must have been love at first site and they married shortly at the Glen Island Casino on Oct 2,1955. Two years later they had their first son, Michael and then Eugene. When work was tough in the 1970s, Lucy started a temporary position at Combe incorporated. She loved it so much, she continued to work well into her 70s. She loved working at Combe. It was a second family to her and had so many great friends and kept in touch until recently.
