Obituary for Margaret T. "Peg" DeGabriel

Margaret Theresa DeGabriel, known to her friends as “Peg,” passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021, at the age of 85. Born in Queens, NY to John and Margaret Morton (Reilly), she was very proud of her Irish heritage.

Peg is survived by her five loving sons Stephen, Robert (Anna), Richard, Kevin (Akiko), Sean (Robin), and her seven grandchildren Ryan, Nicole, Conor, Dylan, Charlotte, Ford and Magnolia, as well as her two nieces Mary and Susan Morton, and her grand-nephew Eli. She was the beloved sister of the late John “Bud” Morton of Avon, CT.

Peg married the late George DeGabriel and settled in Yonkers to raise their family. She was an active member of St. Bartholomew’s parish for over 30 years. After raising her boys, she returned to school to finish her nursing degree and enjoyed a 25-year career as a psychiatric nurse at the New York-Presbyterian Westchester Behavioral Health Center in White Plains. In her later years she was a beloved member of the Church of the Sacred Heart parish in Hartsdale.

The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Peg during her last days, especially Lisa, Carmen, Vanetta and Hospice of Westchester.
