Obituary for Maria Morais Fino

There is magic in a mother’s touch, and sunshine in her smile. There is love in everything she does to make our lives worthwhile. We can find both hope and courage just by looking in her eyes. Her laughter is a source of joy, her words are warm and wise. There is kindness and compassion to be found in her embrace and we see the light of Heaven shining from a mother’s face.

Maria de Jesus Morais Fino was born on November 30,1932 in Carrapichana, Portugal to parents Jesuíno Ferreira Lopes and Maria do Patrocinio Mendes Lopes.
On January 16, 1952, she married the love of her entire life, José Morais Fino. Together they were blessed with 8 children, 3 boys and 5 girls. Maria was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great/ great-great grandmother. She enjoyed her days with her passion for crocheting, making beautiful doilies to bring to her home in Portugal and give to her children and grandchildren. We often referred to her as a nomad. Traveling between Portugal and every month to a different daughter's home. She enjoyed spending quality time catching up with them and her grandchildren who adored her. She was the true Matriarch of our family and a force of nature that remained strong to the very end.

Maria is predeceased by her parents Jesuino Ferreira Lopes and Maria do Patrocinio Mendes Lopes, her husband José Morais Fino, children Manuel Morais, Joaquim Morais, Fernando Morais, her granddaughter Debbie Silva, and grandson Joaquim Morais.

She is survived by her children Maria Neli Bras (Cesar Bras), Maria Matilde Silva (Eduardo Silva), Maria do Patrocinio Martinez (Angel Martinez), Ana Maria Lopes (Carlos Lopes), and Maria de Fatima Goncalves (Elizeu Goncalves). She is also survived by her many grandchildren (16), great grandchildren (29) with (2) on the way, and great-great grandchildren (4).

Our hearts are heavy, our tears flow like a river, but our souls remain strong, for we know you are finally at peace and reunited with the love of your life and those you have missed. Rest peacefully now. Your absence is deeply felt, your spirit will forever be a part of our lives, but your love will forever be a guiding light in all our lives. We will love you ALWAYS!
