Obituary for Maria Scerno

Maria Scerno was born and raised in Abruzzo, Italy. She immigrated to the United States with her parents and her six siblings in 1958.
Maria was happily married to Lawrence A. Scerno for 53 years.
Maria worked as a teacher while in Italy, and for Otis Elevators, and then as a Home Health Aid while living in the United States.
Maria was a kind and beautiful person—both inside and out. She was always such a joy to be around. Her love for people and life was incredible. Everyone that came in contact with her was touched by her deeply religious beliefs and her kindness, generosity, compassion and genuine concern for people. In our family, she was referred to as “Saint Maria.”
Maria is pre-deceased by her parents Pompeo and Michelina DiSilvio and her brothers Elio and Rafael. Maria is survived by her husband Lawrence Scerno, her siblings Anna, Vanda, Joseph, and Tony as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
Maria will live on in our hearts and minds forever—she will never be forgotten.
