Marie Ethel Berdecia (née Bergherr) passed away on January 3, 2021. Marie was born in 1938 in New York City. Marie is survived by her loving husband Samuel, her daughters Karen McNamara (Danny) and Sherrie Greehan (Kenny), and her adoring grandchildren Christopher, Danielle, Aerin, Lila, and Bridget. She is also survived by her sisters Ethel (Bob, deceased), Barbara (Stephen), and brother John (Lori), as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to caring for her family,
Marie was a waitress for many years, a job she truly enjoyed. She loved listening to music, especially Doo-Wop, and was an avid runner in her day. Marie and Sam were active in the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Yonkers and they thought of the fellow members of the parish as a second family. Marie was a kind and gentle soul who found true joy in helping others whenever she could. She also had a special place in her heart for her animal friends. Marie will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Marie's name to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Autism Speaks.
Visitation will be held at Flynn Memorial Home, 1652 Central Park Avenue in Yonkers on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 from 4 to 8PM.
