Obituary for Maurice A. "Doc" Foley

On the evening of June 10th, 2022, Maurice Ambrose “Doc” Foley passed away at the age of 83. Doc was born to Maurice Ambrose Foley and Recy (née Delahanty) in Yonkers NY on July 18th, 1938.

Doc graduated from Stepinac Highschool and went on to serve in the Army. Doc’s passion for helping others led him to the Yonkers Fire Dept, where he retired as an officer after 40 years on the job. In May of ‘61, Doc married his first love Anne (née Meehan). They welcomed two children Thomas and Mary Beth. After a hard-fought battle with cancer, Anne passed. Doc managed to raise two beautiful children as a single dad before meeting Mary Elizabeth “Mae” Clarke on Labor Day weekend of ‘73 and they married that November. They welcomed three more daughters to their family, Elizabeth, Catherine, and Ann Marie. Doc was a family man and a devout Catholic.

He served as a Eucharistic minister at Annunciation Parish in Crestwood NY with his wife Mae. His love for music and the NY Giants was undeniable. Doc was the YFD drum major for 10 years and a Giants season ticket holder for 52 years. He is survived by his adoring wife Mae, his 5 children, and loving in-laws Jackie (née Phillips) Donald Buckley, Mark Soliman, and James Carr. As well as the light of his later years his 12 grandchildren: (Kristen, Thomas & Casey Foley) (Clare & Michael Buckley) (Christopher & Kate Soliman) (Charlotte, James & Thomas Carr) (Jake & Georgia Hartman).

Doc Foley’s legacy of kindness, humor, bravery, and respect will continue to live on through all that loved him after his passing into the Kingdom of Heaven.

In Lieu of flowers, donations to The Tunnel To Tower Fund would be deeply appreciated by the Foley Family.
