Obituary for Peter J. Greges
Peter J. Greges, of Yonkers, NY, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, April 22, 2022, with his wife by his side.
Born in Mount Vernon, NY, to Bartolo "Jack" & Florence Greges, Peter entered the US Army after high school and served his country during the Korean War. After his time in the service, he returned home to Westchester County, where he met his future wife of 62 years, Peggy. He and Peggy raised two sons, Peter Greges (Mary) of Mount Vernon, NY, and James (Patty) Greges of Pawling, NY.
After working at various jobs with his father, he opened and operated a service station in Mount Kisco, NY. An avid gardener, he focused his energies on his garden after closing the station in 1992. In addition to gardening, he was an active member of the American Legion and the Bavarian Club Edelweiss.
Peter is survived by his sister Florence "Cookie" Grippo of Yorktown Heights, grandsons T.J. Greges and J.J. Greges of Pawling, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting Hours will take place at the Flynn Memorial Home in Yonkers, NY on Sunday, April 24th from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and on Monday, April 25th from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
A Funeral Service will take place in the funeral home at 7:00 pm on Monday, April 25th during the visiting,
Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday morning, April 26th at 9:00 am. At 10:00 am we will leave for burial at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Putnam Valley, NY.
