Our adored Robert E. Cannon of Yonkers, NY, passed away on August 14, 2022, with his
daughter by his side. Robert was 84.

Bob was a lifelong resident of Yonkers. He served in the United States Coast Guard from
1956-1963 as a Gunners Mate third class. During his 36 year career as a Yonkers Police officer,
Bob was respected and admired. He received many accolades during his prestigious career.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary. His daughter Charlene of Trumbull, CT, his
cherished grandsons, Kevin and Jordan Heinrich, his brother Charles Cannon of Barrington, Il,
Brother in-laws Christopher and Jeffery Wilkens, cherished family friends Antonio DaCosta and
Andrew Porier, and many nieces and nephews.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Edward A. Cannon and Winifred McGrath Cannon,
and brother Edward Cannon YPD (ret), sister in-law Joanne (Jody) Carilli and brother in-law
Charles (Buddy) Wilkens.

Bob was loved and respected by everyone he knew, a true gentleman. He was a World War II
enthusiast, loved to travel, the outdoors and long walks and most of all spending time with his
family. Bob’s family always came first and he was loved by them beyond measure. Bob’s
grandsons were the center of his universe and they shared a relationship that the boys will
carry with them forever. Bob was strong, kind, compassionate, generous and a role model for
his family and on police force.

To say Bob will be missed is an understatement, but we will cherish all our wonderful memories
and carry the love with us forever.
