Obituary for Rosalie D. Flynn

Rosalie Day Flynn a lifelong Yonkers resident, passed away peacefully at her home on January 17, 2023. She was 93 years old.

She was the eldest child of Rosalie D. Parker and Stephen F. Day. Her younger siblings Stephen and John predeceased her. Rosalie attended St. Mary’s School and Blessed Sacrament Academy, both in Yonkers, and married the late John J. Flynn, Jr. at St. Peter's Church, Yonkers, in October of 1955.

In 1970, while raising six children, Rosalie decided to pursue her college degree at Mount St. Vincent College, Riverdale, NY, earning her bachelor's degree (cum laude). In 1986, she received her masters degree in art history at Manhattanville College, Purchase, NY.

Rosalie was an accomplished artist who loved travel and kept active in the Luther Burbank Garden Club, Yonkers Historical Society, and was an Aide in the Yonkers St. Patrick’s Day Parade. In recognition of her devotion to Yonkers, she was an honored recipient of the key to the City.

She is survived by her children: Sheila Lamb, Bridget Cicero, Audrey Clark, Molly Clark and Jack Flynn. Along with her pride and joy, her ten grandchildren: Haley, Grace, Mora, Charlie, Tristen, Anna, Claire, Meredith,
Eoin and Olivia. She was predeceased by her eldest daughter, Anne Flynn-Sullivan.
