Roy H. Kristensen passed away on June 2, 2022 related to his history of battling cancer. His family was by his side round the clock through his fight and are at peace now that his suffering is over.
Roy will be dearly missed by his wife Marion (Kuver), Sons: Kristofor and daughter-in-law Meghan (Masters), Kenneth and daughter-in-law Kim (Kosakow), and Douglas and daughter-in-law Nicole (Tocci), Brother-in-law Henry and wife Luba, nieces Chrystina & Erika Kuver, and his six grandchildren: Zachary, Cadence, Kate, Matthew, Peter & Nicholas.
Roy was born in Elmont, New York on January 15, 1944 to the late Henry and Anita Kristensen. He is predeceased by his sister Janet. Roy became a member of the New York Police Department in 1965 and retired in 1990. It was an honor for him to serve as an Officer and the NYPD was like a second family to him. He was always proud to put the uniform on and serve the community. Roy married Marion on July 8, 1972. This year they would be celebrating 50 years of marriage! Roy and Marion moved to Yonkers, NY in 1972 and remained in Yonkers to this day. He retired from the NYPD in 1990 and became the Head of security at the Bronx Zoo. There he worked for 15 years making great friends and wonderful memories that he has held with him forever. Roy was a proud father to three boys and an even prouder grandfather to his 6 beautiful grandchildren.
Roy was a loving father and husband who would work double-shifts, holidays and do whatever it took to provide for his family. He enjoyed taking his family all over the country on road trips that led us clear across the country to over 38 states in a seven week trip that none of us will ever forget. He enjoyed nature, birds and anything beautiful that this world had to offer.
In his retirement he loved to relax and fish on his boat and always enjoyed a cruise on his motorcycle. He was a man of few words, but he did not have to speak much to show you what a kind, loving & strong person he was. His smile said it all. He will be missed greatly, but never forgotten by those whose hearts he has touched over the years.
