On November 27, 2020, Thomas F. Harrington Sr, died peacefully in his sleep at home. Born in Yonkers on February 12, 1931 to John and Theresa (Keon) Harrington, he resided for most of his life in Yonkers. Two of his children, Mary Stattle and her husband Rob, and Thomas F. Harrington Jr, his wife Wendy, and granddaughter Cailee survive him. Tom’s second daughter Anne Harrington Evans predeceased him in 2011 and her husband in 2009.

Also surviving are one of his sisters, Joan Major of Walnut Creek, California, along with 13 nieces and nephews, and numerous grand nieces and nephews. His brothers John (Jack) and James died in 1987 and his sister Therese Nowak died in 2014.

Tom was predeceased in 1970 by his first wife Joan Kiley and by his second wife Laura Williams in 1985.

He was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, where he was elected Senior Class President in 1949 and he had a BBA from Manhattan College and an MBA from NYU GBA.

Tom served as a Corporal during the Korean War as a company clerk in Company F, 9th Infantry Division, 60th Infantry Regiment. His self-taught typing ability served him well in his role. So well that when orders came through for him to be shipped to the front lines, on three different occasions, the commanding officer rescinded those orders because Tom “knew” how everything worked at the base and the XO explained that he needed him to stay put.

Tom spent 25+ years in the employ of Precision Valve Corporation in Human Resources. He was a member of the Racquet Club on Park Hill since 1967 where he was an active tennis player. bowler and a Park Hill resident since 1966. Tom was active in amateur dramatics, athletics and was an fanatical golfer mainly at Sprain Lake golf course. Tom played on the Neverwins, the first Yonkers City Basketball Champions in the P.A.L. in 1947.
