Thomas P. Durkin of Yonkers, passed away on December 20, 2020 after a short but courageous battle with Covid-19.
He was predeceased 7 days prior by his sister Anne Durkin (Sr. Thomas Joseph, OP) of Blauvelt, and 5 days before her, by their sister Mary M. Durkin of Yonkers and the late Helen T. Durkin, who passed in 2016. He was the beloved brother of Joan (Mike) Gibbons who resides in Wappingers Falls, NY and the beloved son of the late Thomas and Delia (Moyles) Durkin of the Bronx. Thomas was the much loved Uncle of Deirdre (James) LaRosa of Wappingers Falls, NY, Michael (Kristi) Gibbons of Rixeyville, VA and Thomas (Rebecca) Gibbons of Lockport, NY and Great Uncle of Colin, Kaitlin, Justin, Kyle, Ava, Alison and Georgia.
Thomas graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1958 and then went on to graduate from Fordham University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. He was a Private in the U.S. Army Reserves. Tommy, as he was affectionately called by his friends, was a retired NYPD Police Officer who spent the majority of his career in the 44th PCT in the Bronx and was a life-time member of the 44 Forever Club.
