Obituary for William "Willie" Cucchiarella

William Cucchiarella, 81, of Yonkers, NY unexpectedly left our world with his angels on January 17th, 2021. Willie will be remembered as a loving husband of 59 years to his wife, Linda (Martucci) Cucchiarella, and devoted father to their son, William.

Willie was born in the Bronx on December 31st, 1939, to the late Margaret-Rose and John Cucchiarella. He grew up on College Avenue in the South Bronx, and worked as a bricklayer for many years. He further advanced his career by attending night classes in blue- print reading and construction, and estimating, which enabled him to become a foreman, then a masonry superintendent, a position that he held for over 20 years until he retired. He was well-known in the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 1- NY union for his management and completion of many challenging projects throughout the NYC area.

Willie’s presence will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. He and Linda, enjoyed spending time with their son, as well as their large extended family and many friends. He will be remembered as often being the life of the party, joking around, telling stories, dancing, initiating lively discussions, or sharing his words of wisdom. He was passionate about sports- especially the Yankees, politics, and writing his memoir. Some of his interests included bowling, crossword puzzles, playing cards, and reading the morning newspaper.

In addition to being survived by his wife and son, Willie leaves behind his three brothers: Lucian (Betty), John (Sandra), Jimmy (Barbara), sister-in-law Aurelia, and all of their families of his twenty-two nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great nieces. He also leaves behind his Martucci in-laws: Ronnie (Joanne), Johnny (Louise), Marie Santangelo, and all of their families of his twenty six nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Even though Willie’s passing will leave an empty place at many family tables, he will remain in our hearts forever.

Due to the current pandemic, there will be no services at this time, but a celebration in honor of his life will be planned later this year. Thank you all for your kind thoughts, patience, and understanding during this difficult, and unprecedented time. Please feel free to post your condolences on his Memory Wall on the online memorial page in Willie’s name at flynnmemorialhome.com.
