October 20 would have been the 83rd birthday of my uncle, Egidio Conciatori. Uncle Gee, as he was called by his numerous nieces and nephews, was the kindest and most caring person I’ve ever known.
My family shared a two-family brick house on Mickle Avenue in the Bronx with Uncle Gee, Aunt Cookie and my cousins Lisa and Louis. That house was filled with love, good food and great memories.
Everything Uncle Gee did in his life, he did with a sense of great joy. From coaching the Little League team that my cousin Lou and brother Jeff played on, to playing softball and rooting for the Yankees, to dancing with my Aunt Cookie, the smile never left his face.
That smile and his unforgettable laugh were the first things people noticed when they met him. After getting to know him, they got to see the other qualities that defined him. A hard-working, family-loving, God-fearing man, who also knew how to have a good time!
From picnics and ballgames to birthday parties and weddings, Uncle Gee and that laugh could light up a room.
I am heartbroken to think that he is gone, but I know he will live in my heart forever.
I can picture the scene in Heaven tonight; Uncle Gee is sitting at the table with my Uncle Al and Uncle Vinny drinking a glass of wine, while Nonna dishes out the macaroni. I take comfort in that and knowing that he is keeping a seat at the table for the rest of us.
Uncle Gee was the best of us and I will miss him and treasure his memory for the rest of my life.
We love you,
Robert, Annette, Joey, and Nicole

Uncle G,

You were the best. You will missed very much. I know i will miss our chats at Thanksgiving. We wanted to express our deepest sympathy to Aunt Cookie, and the entire family. I am sad that we could not be there today. We made a donation in your memory to the American Cancer Society.

I’ll always remember your sweet demeanor. Coming to Florida to visit us was a real treat. I will always remember that day. Gloria and you made the perfect couple and you transferred that grace and generosity to your daughter, Lisa. RIP Egidio🙏
