Richie came in our lives when he married Marlene...and he fit right in with the gang. Always cracking a joke at our expense, he was always up for an adventure. I spent time traveling with him to Florida a number of times, the beach, Ohio and a 17 day trip to Italy. It was there that I learned of Richie's love of "antiquities", There wasn't a rock or stone from the Colosseum or Forum that he didnt like, his bags were a little heavier going home. Richie wasn"t fond of the beach however he tolerate our (Marlene, Sarah and my) love of it. He wasn't afraid of putting himself out there, on a trip to Key West, Richie took himself to a bar one day, while we were at the beach, and came back after being proposition by a guy. He said he was flatter. Marlene didnt even get jealous. New Years Eve and New Years day were holidays we spent together dancing and eating the night away. One year Richie had to work late and met us at the venue. He comes in and tells us that he hid his work clothes in a brown paper bag and threw it under a bush. Richie really partied that night. We had to help him to the car and we had a hell of a time finding which bush he left his clothes under. Richie had his likes and dislikes: he didn't like fish but like seafood, he loved him some Haagen das ice cream, he always told me that he liked what I wore. Richie became an expert in Assyrian cooking. The last time we were together, in January, we spent the weekend making a variety of dolmas and chada. I'll end this in the words Richie himself liked to use, "not for nothing" I'm going to miss him.
