Thomas P. Durkin will be missed by a sea of people. He had many friends. A close friend would always say to me "Tom is like a magnet". I was honored to love him for 27 years. He saw all my nieces and nephews grow up. Even my great nephews who consider him family. Our undercover name was TOMKAT. A retired cop and a nurse. What a pair! Tommy was a true cop in all ways. The yearly trip to Vegas with the "44" Forever Club....44th precinct. You couldn't get a closer bunch of guys together to talk about old times and to make new times. My nephew Brian, his best buddy coming to Vegas every year with us, going to the great parties at the American Legion.... will miss him dearly. Tom would always say he had a good life... He was spoiled by his 4 sisters being the only boy in the family, a close knit Irish family. He adored his niece and nephews as well as their children. I would love to listen to his stories growing up in the Bronx. His parents being from Ireland, all the Irish songs he so loved, and his true faith in God which enhanced my faith. I truly learned a lot from Tommy. He said he would be ready when it was his time. His friend Izzy, experienced the light, " a peace that overcomes you", though Tom put up a good fight, he saw that light and went towards it. Tom went to sleep very peacefully. He will be forever in my heart as well as in the hearts of family and friends. The memories will live on forever and ever....
With all my love and prayers,
